How comprehensive is the safety coverage that comes with your new car? With every new Mitsubishi, roadside assistance is included, providing coverage for five years with no additional cost regardless of how many miles you drive. There’s no need to sign up or to activate it; coverage starts on the date the vehicle is first sold or first put into use, whichever of those two dates comes first, and it offers protection not only to the driver but also to any family members who may be driving or who are passengers in the vehicle.

What Mitsubishi Roadside Assistance Covers

Assistance is available every day of the year, day and night. All you have to do is make a phone call, and this will connect you with a dispatcher who is able to find you and dispatch a technician to wherever you have pulled over, be it a driveway, a parking lot, or the shoulder of a highway. The services provided include the following:

• Towing → to the nearest Mitsubishi dealer, such as Miami Lakes Mitsubishi, or other approved service point when the vehicle isn’t drivable

• Jump starts → for a dead battery, so a flat cell doesn’t turn into a tow

• Flat-tire service → exchanging the flat with your inflated spare

• Emergency fuel and fluid delivery → enough to get you to the nearest station

• Lockout assistance → to regain entry to your vehicle

• Mechanical first aid → minor roadside repairs or adjustments

For How Long Does the Coverage Last?

The coverage lasts for five years with no limit on the number of miles, and the five-year period begins on the date the vehicle is first sold or first put into use, whichever of those two dates occurs first. 

The program itself is free of charge, but you’re still liable for a small number of items, including the replacement of non-warrantable parts, the replacement of a lost key, the repair of non-warrantable tires, and any personal service that’s arranged on your behalf, for example an airline ticket. 

When the five-year period has expired, Mitsubishi roadside assistance will still provide a warrantable tow at no cost to the original owner throughout the term of the 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty.

Trip Interruption Coverage

A trip interruption benefit is available if your car has a fault that’s considered a warrantable condition and the vehicle is more than 150 miles from home, requiring it to be left overnight for repairs. The insurance plan will then pay for reasonable and documented expenses for food, accommodation, and transportation, with a daily limit of $175 and a maximum of three days.

However, you have to get prior approval from the roadside assistance service to qualify, so you should contact them before making any arrangements. For the current terms, refer to your warranty booklet.

Concierge Service

A breakdown usually doesn’t come by itself. While you’re waiting, the concierge acts as a personal assistant by arranging or altering reservations that have been disrupted by the delay, informing your family members or colleagues on your behalf, and making arrangements for overnight accommodation if the repair goes over into the next day. 

They’re also able to find the nearest ATM depending on your location. Although each of these things may seem minor on its own, all of them take the hassle out of having to plan things at a time when it’s already the worst possible moment.

The Mitsubishi Road Assist+ App

The same service can be accessed with just a tap using the Road Assist+ app. Instead of calling, you can ask for help from your phone, and the app will match your position with the nearest available service technician, something that’s useful whenever you aren’t completely sure of your location. It also includes a number of additional features:

The app is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via the Smartphone Display Audio system.

How to Request Service

If you want to get in touch with the program by phone, you can call 1-888-648-7820, as there is a phone line available 24 hours a day. When you purchase a new Mitsubishi, a wallet card will be sent to you by mail containing your vehicle identification details, the toll-free number, and instructions on how to obtain help quickly. 

Store it in a place where you’ll actually keep it, for example in your wallet or in the glove box. Should the card go missing, you can obtain a replacement to download, and the app can be used as an alternative each time you prefer not to make the phone call.
